Laughteryoga
is a series of yogic exercises undertaken voluntarily, with the express purpose of inducing laughter. To understand the dynamics of such a session, please take the quick tour and have a peek at the photos or the video clippings.  To examine the origins of laughteryoga go to yoga connection.

We were born with the ability to laugh, however the evidence on hand suggests that from laughing 400-500 times a day as children, when we grow up this dwindles down to just 10-15 laughs a day. The worries of live-wire careers, money, children and self-esteem have taken their toll!

Our unique technique is simple yet powerful and transports us back to the carefree joys of our childhood love and laughter. Over a few sessions, the threshold of laughter impluse in most participants is vastly lowered. Where people needed alcohol or lots of "good ones" to even break into a smile, a few laughter sessions bring down the barriers and it takes very little to burst forth with peels of  hearty belly  laughter.

Gently thru' breathing and yogic exercises, we reach your heart with playful laughter exercises and soon reach a crescendo of  excited belly laughter. No tricks, no tickling, no alcohol and no jokes. The laughter comes straight from the heart as pure joy.

Dr. Kataria discovered that  thru' linking the mind-body-soul together in an integrated manner  via simple  exercises, he could reach the very souls of the people he laughed with. These exercises are playful and value-based, thus inciting the participant to feel more excited and enthusiastic. The end result is that the inner spirit of laughter is realised, leading to hearty, aerobic belly laughter with all the attendant  health benefits .

Most of these benefits are validated by the existing research on the subject which detail the chemical and physical changes that the body undergoes with laughter, proving in scientific terms the how and why of our own responses as an effect of laughter.

The grey lines between laughing and crying are purposely distorted and thru' yogic laughter exercises, the participant is encouraged to "forgive & forget" , laugh at human failings and random misfortunes , accept real-life imbalances for what they are and recognise the true value of laughter as a reward for all to enjoy.

This by itself is a finite and readily achievable goal, however ultimately laughter is but a trusted  vehicle that leads us on a spiritual journey to beyond laughter.
